How do I know Bruce?
I met Bruce during previous years already at several festival, mainly the Africa festival in Hertme (Holland). He had is own corner to gain attention for his ’cause’: the insanity of wars in Africa, and to help African people, and… the insanity of the Dutch Asylum policy.
Recently I met him again at the Landjuweel Festival, Ruigoord, where we were doing the first Novaglobe festivalsymposium. Daniel Roos was there too, who joined the Dutch Conscious Council (Artist Council) some months before. We had a talk with the three of us, and decided to meet, and see where we could enforce eachother and how to put the Conscious Council to action.
Bruce himself came as a refugee to Holland. I read his book ‘De Lange Weg‘ (Dutch), giving expression to years and years of suffering and despair. He made his way through, but many died during their escape, or, even worse, in Dutch Asylum camps (by committing suicide primary, out of despair of years and years of waiting). Our system is not so good as many people tend to say in the West…
Now he puts all his efforts in creating ‘business’ in Africa. He succeeded with this in Nigeria, and thus providing for several people for a lifelyhood. A true example for me. His intention is to realize eco village(s) there… an intention I want gladly be part of in Realizing it.
