Classical relations quite often don’t tend to be free. Within the marriage for instance people promise to stay with eachother till they die. Actually they are not in the position to promise this, because they do not know what will happen. And are thus lying already. Which is (see goodvalues section Novaglobe) tresspassing the basic values: respect and love.
And why promise love? A freelation is an alternative method to define a relation. It can work at the same as a marriage: stay together till death comes, in a monogamous way. But the undertone is different: it is free. No promises. Read the music: ‘Love is a bird’ (Madonna). ‘All I want is you… and the promises we break’ (U2 / All I want is you). Etc, etc.
When people want to enjoy different contacts at the same time, this concept has a high relation with Polyamor.
And.. it is a way to stick to your Self. Not become ‘Petra and Paul’. I am Iwanjka. I am nobodies man (inspired on the Dutch singeres Anouk singing ‘I am Nobodies Wife’). I do not want to HAVE a girlfriend, I want to be WITH a girlfriend (and in my case, considering my Self polyamorous) more than one girlfriend.
The interesting thing is that a desire many people seem to have (different love partners) is fullfilles automatically. Or, because it is allowed, does not come up at all.
The basic value in a freelation: respect and transparancy: always mention at forehand when meeting somebody new you are a freelation type. Break no hearts. And make very clear with your friend(s) what is fine to do with others and what isn’t. Continuous tuning is necessary to be able to live the freelation concept. And to be in harmony with your Self, otherwise destructive emotions like jalouzy, anger, fear, etc. will easily show themselves in you…
And offcours (oncourse), in case you have sex, consider the risk on sexual disseases and getting a baby… About sexual diseases: do a test at your medicine frequently, ask your friend for his or her ‘trackrecord’, or ask him or her to do a test, etc.
